Structured Play

In Killowen Primary School we value the importance of Structured Play and Activity Based Learning as an essential method in delivery of the Foundation Stage and KS1 curriculum. Through play our learners make connections, build on ideas, concepts and skills. As well as making new discoveries, children will use the skills they have already mastered to extend their knowledge and understanding of the world around them.

‘I hear, I forget. I see, I remember. I do, I understand.’

Play allows children to use their creativity while developing their imagination, dexterity, and physical, cognitive, and emotional strength. Play is important for healthy brain development.
